Selling your home without a realtor

The hot real estate market leads some to believe that hiring a realtor is not necessary to sell their home.  Sellers can just put a "for sale" sign in the yard, and they can pay for an MLS listing, advertise in various publications and use social media.  Those efforts may be enough to generate interest, especially in popular areas.  However, getting advice on value, staging and marketing is important to the sale process.  It is easy to leave money on the table if sellers are not thorough.  The negotiation and contracting process presents more pitfalls.  Even after a contract is signed there is more work to be done in order to get the deal over the finish line.  If you chose not to engage a realtor you certainly should have a real estate attorney involved as early as possible in the process.   Investing in experienced real estate professionals will pay dividends.
